Format 3 - Three Day Symposium
This 3-day symposium is actually 3 days plus a Thursday evening demonstration. That evening session is followed by a Friday problem-solving clinic that is then followed by a horse/rider clinic on Saturday and Sunday.
Thursday Evening Demonstration
A good way to get people interested and excited about Friday's problem solving session and what they will be teaching during the horse/rider clinic is to have a evening demonstration from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. This is always a fun and enjoyable evening for horse and non-horse people alike. Ron and Kathy will demonstrate round pen reasoning, college level leading, calm down cues and advanced techniques that every discipline will appreciate. This evening session always ends with a question and answer period.
Ron and Kathy's sense of humor and love for what they do quickly puts people at ease and causes them to want to be part of the program. This is also a great time for spectators to pre-register for the following clinic days. The suggested spectator fee for this evening demonstration is adults $15.00, with children under 18 admitted free.
Friday Private Sessions
Ron and Kathy will work with each horse and their rider for 1 hour in a specific time slot. The horse's owner/rider will describe, to the audience, the horseâs background and explain the problem they are having. The rider may ask Ron and Kathy any question about training and horsemanship they may have. Ron and Kathy will work on any specific area the rider feels needs attention with their horse. That may be anything from ground manners to advanced riding issues. Everyone attending the horse/rider clinic are encouraged to attend and watch. Ron and Kathy welcome spectator participation and interaction. They sometimes will include the audience to illustrate certain points
Saturday and Sunday Horse/Rider Clinic
Two or three day clinics consist of a minimum of 10 riders and a maximum of 15. All riding disciplines are welcome. A full cheek snaffle bit is required. All clinics begin with groundwork in the morning of the first day followed by intense saddle work for the remaining clinic days.
There will be drills and exercises that will teach the rider how to communicate more effectively with their horse. They will learn how to:
-
Perform the John Lyons famous "giving to the bit" exercise
-
Get their horse's attention and keep it
-
Teach their horses to be flexible, supple, collected and balanced
-
Get solid stops on a light rein
-
Move their horse's shoulders and disengage the hindquarters with one rein
-
Develop a lasting partnership with their horses based on mutual trust, communication and respect
This is a great opportunity for horse owners to learn new techniques and learn to teach their own horse in a positive and safe environment. The camaraderie that develops in these clinics is incredible. The results speak for themselves. For those signed up for all 3 days, the fee is $350 and we do ask the same horse be used for all 3 days.
Spectator Fees
Except for the evening demonstration, pre-registered spectator fees are $25.00 each day or $30.00 at the door. Evening demonstrations are $15.00.
